In life and business, every choice is a stepping stone to our desired reality. Yet, we often underestimate the power of our decisions, making them almost unconsciously. In a recent episode of the “Own Your Awesome Podcast,” host Miranda Von Frickin delved deep into the significance of owning your decisions and how just one mental activity can lead you towards your destiny. Let’s break down the insightful discussions from this episode and explore how you can harness the power of your decisions to shape your dream life.
The Daily Decision-Making Dilemma
Imagine a simple scenario: deciding where to go for lunch. How many times have you asked, “Where do you want to eat?” only to get an indecisive “I don’t know” in return? This everyday example, shared by Miranda, encapsulates a broader issue: many of us avoid making decisions. Whether it’s choosing a restaurant or making significant life choices, our reluctance to decide keeps us from achieving what we truly desire. When you consistently own your decisions, you assert control over your life and start manifesting a reality aligned with your aspirations.
Realizing the Power of Decisions
Miranda illustrated the profound impact of decision-making with a personal anecdote. Thirteen years ago, she confidently decided to conceive a child, and despite the odds, she got pregnant that very month. This story isn’t merely about fortunate circumstances but about the crucial role of decision-making in achieving what we set our minds to. By firmly deciding on something, we set the stage for action and, subsequently, our desired outcome.
Transforming Your Mindset
Over the years, Miranda acknowledges she momentarily lost sight of her decision-making power, succumbing to the monotony of corporate life. However, personal development, manifestation, and taking actionable steps helped her reconnect with her inner abilities. This transformation is something she urges everyone to experience.
Firstly, slowing down and becoming intentional with your decisions can make all the difference. Whether it’s deciding on your career, relationships, or daily routines, every choice you make is a step towards the reality you want to create.
Setting Profound Goals
Early in 2024, Miranda set an ambitious goal: making $1,000,000 by the end of 2025. She didn’t stop at just wishing for it; she decisively mapped out her strategy and committed to the goal. This example is a testament to how owning your decisions can turn lofty dreams into tangible realities. It’s not enough to hope for success; you must actively decide to achieve it and start taking the necessary steps.
The Importance of Cosmic Ordering
One fascinating tool Miranda introduced is the concept of a “cosmic ordering list.” Originating from her coach Jess, this list is essentially a menu of what you want from the universe. By writing down your decisions, you create a concrete plan for the universe to follow, accelerating the manifestation of your desires. This practice helps clear up ambiguity and ensures you’re consistently working towards your goals.
Trusting Your Gut Instinct
In the fast-paced world we live in, our inner voice often gets drowned out by external noise. Miranda highlights the importance of trusting your gut or inner voice. Whether you attribute it to intuition, the Holy Spirit, or the universe, listening to this internal guide can significantly impact your decision-making process. By honing this instinct, you cultivate a personal freedom that guides you through life’s complexities with confidence.
Practical Steps for Owning Your Decisions
Miranda offers practical advice for effective decision-making:
1. Gather Information: Understand your options thoroughly before making a choice.
2. Get Still and Listen: Quiet your mind and listen to your instincts or pray for guidance.
3. Decide and Move Forward: Make your decision and commit to it, knowing you have the power to adjust if needed.
By practicing these steps, you strengthen your decision-making muscle, preparing yourself for more significant choices and challenges in the future.
Conclusion
Owning your decisions is more than just making choices; it’s about reclaiming control of your life. Whether it’s a simple decision about lunch or a life-changing career move, every decision shapes your future. By being intentional and confident in your choices, you pave the way for the life you’ve always envisioned. Embrace your inner power, trust your gut, and watch as your dreams unfold before you.

Miranda [00:00:00]:
Hello. Hello. And welcome to another episode of the own your awesome podcast. I’m your host, Miranda Von Frickin. Today, I wanna teach you this one activity that can change it all for you in life and in business when it comes to your goals, when it comes to building that dream life, when it comes to increasing your reach on platforms like LinkedIn or Instagram, when it comes to increasing your position within your organization, getting promoted, getting the job, or dare I say, beating the odds. This one thing is a game changer, and it’s just one little mental activity. It may seem small, but boy does it pack a punch. It has the power to drive you towards your destiny.
Miranda [00:00:47]:
This one little thing, we do it every day, and I don’t think it gets the credit it deserves, and it is the decisions. Today’s episode is called own your decision and I’m here to talk to you about how you need to own your decisions in order to create the reality that you’ve been deeply desiring. This is gonna be such a juicy conversation. I cannot wait. Alright. It sounds so simple. Right decisions. Sure.
Miranda [00:01:18]:
Where do you wanna go for lunch? I’d like a cheeseburger. Cool. Let’s go get a cheeseburger. But how many times, and I know this is not just my family, how many times have you been in the car going to a sporting event or in between things like church and shopping and think, hey, guys, wanna grab lunch? You say, where do you wanna go? And you know what comes next? I don’t even have to say it. What is it? Yeah. I don’t know. Where do you wanna go? Oh, it’s so annoying. Oh, my gosh.
Miranda [00:01:48]:
It drives me bonkers. Does no one really know where they wanna go or they just don’t wanna own the decision in saying where they wanna go? My gosh. Just tell me already. What are we having for lunch? How many times have you settled for Taco Bell when you really wanted a nice salmon salad and sit down at a restaurant but didn’t speak up? Here’s the thing, friends. When we own our decisions, we not only get what we want, but we start to realize that we have the power to make our reality exactly what our mind envisions. It turns out we really do have superpowers. Oh, my god. I’ve wanted them my whole life and, apparently, I’ve always had them.
Miranda [00:02:36]:
I think I forgot this for a second. Around 12 or 13 years ago well, actually, probably 13 to be exact. My husband and I were talking about conceiving and I said to my best friend, alright, girl. We’re gonna have a baby this month. She’s like, oh, oh, you are? You’re gonna have one this month? And she’s like, dude, it’s harder than you think. You can’t just decide and it happens. And I’m like, well, duh. Clearly, I know we need to take some action.
Miranda [00:03:04]:
But it was in my head that we were having a baby. It was done. It was already done. I was going to get pregnant that month and she was like, I have no doubt actually because whenever you say something, it actually happens. We jokingly thought that I had magic powers because, I mean, technically, she had a point. Whenever I decided something, typically, it would happen. And 13 years ago, we got pregnant that month and my daughter is here and she’s perfect. Okay.
Miranda [00:03:33]:
She’s not perfect, but you get what I’m saying. I think over time though and, again, I was really young, so I think there was less biases and experiences that I had gone through that made me think I don’t have power. So back then, I was just like, hell, yeah. We’re getting pregnant this month. Let’s do it, and it just happened. Over that time, I don’t know if it’s mom brain or call it what you will, entrepreneur brain, corporate, you know, confusion. I got knocked over the head and did a 9 to 5 job for 15 years. Who knows what happened? But I started to forget that I had the power to make things like that happen.
Miranda [00:04:11]:
Yes. I’ve been in personal development for my literally my entire life, and I’m obsessed with all things manifestation. I love visualizing. I love taking actions. I love making things happen, but I think I forgot the power I had for a little bit because I stopped trusting that when I decided on something, it was going to happen. Of course. Now I know let listen. I get it.
Miranda [00:04:37]:
There’s always gonna be things that we decide on that just don’t happen. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve made decisions and the opposite happened. So I know it’s not, like, an exact science, but maybe that thing wasn’t for us or maybe it wasn’t the right time for that to happen. So I’m curious, though, how adamant are you about the life you’re creating? Is it a decision that you’re making or did you not decide and that it just happened. Right? So how how strong are you about the decisions you’re making? Of course, the lunch situation is kind of as easy example. If you want something for lunch and everybody’s like, I don’t know. Why don’t you just tell them you want salads? Because that’s what you want. And I would assume everybody would probably be like, alright.
Miranda [00:05:24]:
Cool. Let’s get salads. Actually, my car would not say that. My car would be like, I don’t want salads. Since when did we get healthy? But you get the point. If you want something, just say it. Don’t hold back anymore. The minute you do when you decide something, it instantly changes something inside of you.
Miranda [00:05:44]:
It makes your inner state into a belief that it can happen. Because when you say yes to something or you’d make an answer, you decide for yourself, your mind can picture it actually happening. For me right now, early 2024, I made the decision that I’m going to make $1,000,000 in my business by the end of 2025. Technically, I don’t even care if it’s in my business. I’m just calling in a $1,000,000 by the end of 2025. So that’s given me almost 2 years. I’d like it to be 2024, but I had planned on New Year’s Day when I mapped out my life for the year, I had taken it all the way through to 2025, and it ended with a $1,000,000. So I did put or sooner because y’all know I just wanna get, like, specific with the universe.
Miranda [00:06:34]:
I want a $1,000,000 or more by the end of 2025 or sooner. The old version of me may have been like, alright. Cool. We want a $1,000,000. That sounds awesome. But then I’d get obsessed with the house, and I’d probably freak out a little and maybe think, like, I gotta go play the lottery because that’s the only way I’m gonna make a $1,000,000, which we all know that’s not true. We know as women and business owners, if we want to do something, we have the power to make it happen. Like, I wanted to write a book, and a friend of mine said to me, what’s happening with your book? How’s it going? And I said, I don’t know, girl.
Miranda [00:07:15]:
I’m struggling. I’m I’m, like, blocked for, like, for the creative juices, or this was probably, like, 4 months ago, maybe. Creative juices are flowing. I’m just not feeling it. She looked me dead in the eye, granted we were on Zoom, but close enough. Looked me in the eyeballs and said, Miranda, it’s already done. And I said, I’m sorry. What now? Your book, you’ve already written it somewhere in a in a different stream of consciousness, in a different reality, in a different dimension.
Miranda [00:07:46]:
Your book has already been written. And I was like, well, damn. I think you’re right, girl. She may have decided for me, but that’s the power we have as women to tell our girlfriends it’s already been done. What are you second guessing? Now you just have to say it out of your mouth so the universe can hear you so we have the power Maybe not all the resources, but we have the power and the power to decide and to own our decision is where it starts. I often tell my clients, look around you. This is when I’m life coaching. Right? Look around you.
Miranda [00:08:28]:
The life you have, you made that happen with your past decisions. Good, bad, ugly, or awesome, you did that. You also have the power to undo that or make changes and adjustments with the decisions you make today. So what decisions do you need to make today? Let’s talk about why it’s so important to own your decision. 1, well, let’s be honest. You’re just gonna get what you want. When we decide, the universe says, okay. One of my intuitive coaches, Jess, that you hear me talk about probably every week, she has us make a cosmic ordering list.
Miranda [00:09:12]:
And I think she got this from her coach, which is Allison from the You Do Woo podcast. I don’t care who originally thought of it. It’s I’m obsessed with it and I’m here for it, but my coach told me it. So now I’m telling you it. Make a cosmic ordering list. Literally, like a menu of what you want the universe to deliver to you. Make the decision and it is so. So why is it important? So you can get what you want.
Miranda [00:09:39]:
So you can move things along faster and cut out all the b s, all the I don’t know. What do you want? I don’t know. What do you want? F that. Cut it out of your life. Make the decision faster. Take charge of your life. That’s what happens when you own your decisions. You put yourself in the driver’s seat of the outcomes.
Miranda [00:09:59]:
You also get to respond to shifts better, and this is one thing that I didn’t realize. When when there’s a shift that happens in the world, in our life, at work, in our house, if we don’t make the decision to either go with it or to adjust to it, we have a a much harder time. And, you know, maybe you fight with people, maybe you get depressed, maybe you feel yucky because when you start to own your decisions, when a shift happens that you weren’t expecting, you can quickly respond to it faster because you now you know you have the power to make shit happen. If you don’t like the shift, you can make a decision to move. If you like the shift, you can make the decision to embrace. So you also why it’s important to own your decisions is because you start to trust your gut more. Listening to that still small voice with in you, that’s your gut, your holy spirit, Jesus, the universe, source, whatever you wanna call it, it’s all the same. It’s there.
Miranda [00:11:04]:
It’s in you that gave us the power. Hello? Why aren’t you using it? It’s so important. When you trust your gut, you then create a personal freedom. A personal freedom that you’ve longed for your entire life. Who doesn’t wanna decide what their life looks like? Me? Yes. I want to decide, please. Thank you. I will make that decision.
Miranda [00:11:32]:
I don’t need people to do that for me. Sure. Things around me may get decided that I have to adjust to but I get to own my decision on how I react respond and adjust I make that decision and that’s why it’s so important to start owning the small decisions now so when big decisions come, we’re building up that muscle. Right? We’re all superheroes need to practice their powers. I mean, Spider Man didn’t just start swinging in day 1. No. He had to start by, like, bringing in a water bottle, like, pew pew. Alright.
Miranda [00:12:05]:
I’m getting silly now. But you get what I mean? We have to practice with our powers in order to strengthen them. So how do we do this? How do we do this? Let’s get practical. Alright. So one area is a decision. When there’s a decision that is presented to you or there is a a decision to be made that’s presented to you, there’s a few things I like to do. I don’t like to instantly respond. I mean, unless it’s like a hell yeah or a hell no, then I usually take a minute.
Miranda [00:12:33]:
So I will gather information if I need to. Right? I identify some of the options I have, then I get quiet. I get still for a minute, and I listen to my gut, to that voice. I pray. What is it telling me? What does it what feels right? What decision feels like, yep. That’s it. And what ones feel like, no. That’s not it.
Miranda [00:12:57]:
I mean, if we’re thinking about lunch, it’s it’s probably not Taco Bell. Yeah. It feels good to say salmon salad with mango salsa. Clearly, I’m hungry. Then we decide. Whatever feels right, that’s your decision. Make the decision and do not look back. Even if you have to adjust after that decision because it may have been the wrong one, you get to decide again.
Miranda [00:13:22]:
You get to decide how you’ll adjust. I want you to try it today. Don’t hesitate. Decide. What it what is what is there a decision happening in your life right now that you have to make? Get quiet, get still, and just without even saying it out loud, decide within and then maybe play out what happens if that’s the decision. Is all hell gonna break loose? Probably not. Or maybe maybe that’s exactly what you want to happen. So own your decisions, friends.
Miranda [00:13:54]:
It’s so important when you own your decisions, you take back control of your life. Own your decisions for your goals. Own your decisions to start to take moves to creating that dream life. Own your decision to engage on on LinkedIn. I mean, shit. I’ll decide that for you. Get on LinkedIn. Own your decisions today.
Miranda [00:14:19]:
We have the power to make things happen, but only if we decide. And then once you do, watch the life you want up here like magic. Okay. Maybe not magic. Listen. We may not have all the resources we need to make it magically happen, but once we decide, the universe will start to provide. So write that down. When you decide, the universe will provide.
Miranda [00:14:44]:
Yep. I don’t even know if that’s a legit quote. If not, I’m a have to go trademark that because I’m on fire today. It’s so good. Friends, please own your decisions. Tell me what’s happening in your world. Reach out to me on Insta, LinkedIn. Let me know what’s happening.
Miranda [00:14:57]:
Give me an example. I’d love to shout you out and use your example in a future episode because, listen, like, social proof is my jam, and I’m all about it. Oh, and by the way, that book that my friend told me was already done, mhmm, it was done. It was officially written on January 24th. As of yesterday, it was submitted to my friend for editing. I’ve already purchased the lawyer for trademarking. I’ve already purchased the gentleman who’s gonna create the book cover. Yo.
Miranda [00:15:25]:
This shit is done. It has been decided, friends. So mark your calendars because or reach out to me for the link because I’ll be pre selling it soon, and I need you all to tell the world about the decision I made to own my awesome on LinkedIn.
